the sum of series of defeat,
multiple collapses
that grow out of advertised victories
words and texts and more texts willing
the part of the whole
was that day as a boy
someone took me for a ride
through the Brandenburg Gate
sitting there among the ruins of Berlin
it took sixty years
until that whole area got
liberated, renovated

what was once Protestant
turned now Catholic
and someone recently wrote
that the Cold War
brought Europe's Civil Wars
to an end...
as if the Vatican
now too is pacified
as if democracy too
will now grow into more greeneries
into more bush
as if foreign lands
will be free
free from foreign laws
as if beliefs evaporate
keep evaporating
become wordless
